About Adventures In Kung Fu

Posted by Kung Fu Family - April 2010

Kung Fu Plaza, which is the oldest and most authentic Chinese and Thai restaurant in Las Vegas, was originally opened in 1974 in Las Vegas before Americans learned Thai food was different from Chinese food. So Alan Wong's parents decided to name the restaurant "Kung Fu," which everybody knew from the hit television show starring David Carradine.

Kung Fu Plaza Imports Mekhong

Named after a major river that flows along the border of Thailand, Mekhong has become a source of pride for Thailand. The spirit is made from indigenous sugar canes, rice, herbs, and spices that give it a balanced sweet and spicy taste indicative of Thai drinks and food. In April, Alan Wong's father, Chain Wong, made a special arrangement to import Mekhong from International Beverage Holdings in New York.

Chumlee From Pawn Stars Visits Kung Fu

Posted by Alan Wong - Sept. 2010

Our most recent notable Las Vegas visitor was none other than Austin "Chumlee" Russell. Chumlee is what I like to call an accidental celebrity, and it could not have happened to a nicer guy with a very big appetite. He was made famous on the History Channel reality documentary series Pawn Stars, which has 5 million viewers and counting. The show is built around the daily activities of the Harrison family and their Las Vegas-based Gold And Silver Pawn Shop.

Posted by Kung Fu Family On 9:00 AM
While most of the world is focused on challenges facing Thailand, there will be a bright light on Saturday, May 22. Thougchai "Bird" McIntyre, who is known as The Superstar No. 1 of Thailand, will be performing live in Los Angeles.

Bird, best known for his Thai pop and lu thung music, has sold more than 20 million albums, making him the number one singer in the history of Thailand. He has won more than 20 awards, including the Inspiration Award at the MTV Asia Awards, Best Song from Channel [V] Thailand Music Video Awards, and an Achievement Award at the Virgin Hitz Awards. In Thailand, he also starred in several television series and movies.

The Los Angeles concert, “We Love Our King,” marks the first time Bird has ever performed outside of Thailand. The singer will be joined by guest artists Kathaleeya English, Da Endorphin, Pinky, Na Khom and Ko Tee Aram boy. Partial proceeds will benefit “His Majesty the King on the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King’s Birthday Anniversary of Eighty-Four Years in 2011.”

"We're very honored to know that the brightest star in Thailand will be representing the best of the Thai people in the United States," says Alan Wong, general manager of Kung Fu Plaza in Las Vegas. “We're hoping he will accept our invitation to stop in Las Vegas between the Los Angeles concert and his New York concert on May 31."

Wong said he ordered more Chang beer for such an occasion. In addition to being a primary concert sponsor, Chang beer is the number one selling beer in Thailand. It has received several international honors, including a gold medal from the 2010 World Beers and Drinks Selection.

In Los Angeles, promoters have also opened limited meet and greets with McIntyre immediately after the concert. Tickets may be purchased on the official "Bird Live In The USA" site.
